Welcome to First Grade!

Welcome First Graders!!

My name is Ms. Marrano and I will be your child's first grade teacher. :)  The beginning of the school year gets me so excited just like it has since I was kindergarten and first grade age myself.

This blog is for you, parents.  I know how crazy life can get sometimes and it is so easy to lose things and forget what is due when.  I promise to try my best to post as often as needed and to add reminders, as well as try to post over every weekend about the upcoming week.

On here you can find links to websites that are great for practice as well as others to help if your child forgets their spelling list or reading book at school or on the bus.

If you have any suggestions of great websites to include on the blog for the other parents, please let me know.  I am always looking for fun ways to keep our tech-savvy students learning and LOVING learning.

First, a little about myself.  I received my Elementary Education degree from Northern Illinois University, received my English as a Second Language endorsement from National-Louis University, and have just finished my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University.  I believe that it is important to continue higher education to become an increasingly knowledgable teacher.  I want your children to have the best opportunity to be great not only in first grade, but on their journey through education.  My main goal is to create lifelong learners.

The first week of school is so much fun and we will enjoy getting to know each other and learning the rules and procedures in the classroom and school.

Your child will be coming home with a Park School folder.  Please go through the folder and sign and return all forms in there.  Main forms that you should be looking for are transportation, health, and student computer use forms.  Please return these as soon as possible.

These Park School folders need to be taken home and returned to school every day.  These are used as home/school communication and are important for getting important documents to and from school.  Your child's homework will be placed in these as well every night.

I look forward to meeting you and your children!  I am ready for the 2012-2013 school year!
